When does my teacher check her email?: On school days between the hours of 8am to 3:30pm. Emails sent after 3:30pm will be received the following school day.
What should I include in the email that I send to my teacher?: Please refer to this document to format your email. Emails without subject lines and clear context may not receive a reply. Please include the following in your email to your teacher:
Subject of class (eg. science, math, history…)
Period you’re in (eg. period 1)
What your email is regarding (eg. the name of the specific hw assignment, chapter test #, class meeting on 8/30, etc.)
The class meeting agenda?: The agenda is located on the Agenda & HW page of the class website.
Lesson materials specific for math?: Hover over "Math 7" in the top right corner and select the chapter from the drop down menu.
Lesson materials specific for science?: There are links to electronic copies posted on the Daily Agenda slide.
Templates and Guidelines?: Hover over "Science 7" or "Math 7" in the top right corner and select the "resources" subpage from the drop down menu.
Details about what was covered during a class?: Details about what we did in class for the day can be found on the daily agenda slide.
Detailed instructions about an assignment?: Details about assignments can be found on the daily agenda slide.
What do I do if I know about an upcoming absence (such as a field trip or doctor's appointment)?: Notify Mrs. Reynolds as soon as you know about your upcoming absence. Check the class agenda/homework page to see what assignments or class activities you will miss and gather any necessary materials. If you are going to be absent on a test or quiz day, make a plan with Mrs. Reynolds to make up the test or quiz.
What do I do when I'm absent? : On the day of your absence, first, check the daily class agenda to see what you missed in class and if you have any homework. Please follow up with the teacher if you have questions or need help understanding what you missed. Any missed work should be completed and turned in as soon as possible.
How often is homework assigned?: Homework is assigned typically on a daily basis.
Where can I find homework assignments?: Please check the daily agenda on the class website.
Where should I keep my homework assignments?: You should complete and keep your homework assignments in your spiral notebook unless the teacher gives you different directions.
When is homework due?: Homework is due at the start of class the next day. Assignments that are due on Google Classroom must be completed and submitted before 8 am.
When and how often is the homework & agenda page updated?: The homework & agenda subpage is updated daily in the morning.
Here's a visual step-by-step guide to change your sharing permissions on Google Drive
Create a Math 7 (and/or Science 7) folder in Google drive, give Mrs. Reynolds (jreynolds@ausd.net) edit access to your folder. This can be done by right clicking on the folder name, choosing "share" from the menu that pops up and entering my email "jreynolds@ausd.net" in the "add people" box. Click "done" to save the changes.
How often is work graded?: Work is typically graded within 5 school days, sometimes sooner and sometimes later.
How often is PowerSchool updated?: Mrs. Reynolds tries her best to update grades as soon as an assignment is turned in, usually within 5 school days of the assignment being turned in.
Does Mrs. Reynolds accept late work?: Yes, your late work can be turned in before the end of the current grading period or quarter. The last day to turn in late work is 10 school days before the quarter ends. Late work will not be accepted after the window and grading period closes.
What do I do if I have late work?: Complete your late work as soon as possible and turn it in. Check on PowerSchool to make sure you receive credit.
Will points be taken off work that is turned in late?: No, points are not usually deducted for work that is turned in late, unless the work is stamped on the assignment calendar. For work that is stamped on the assignment calendar, late work is typically worth 50% off (half credit). Late work may also affect your work habits grade for the quarter.
2-3 late assignments will result in a N in work habits.
4 or more late assignments will result in a U in work habits.
What do I do if I have missing assignments?: Check Power School and your monthly assignment calendar to verify what assignments are missing. Missing assignments on PowerSchool will be noted with the "Missing" symbol (a yellow square)
Can I still turn in my missing work?: Yes, please submit your work as soon as possible. You may lose points or have your work habits grade lowered. Made up work will not be accepted for the current grading period once there are 10 school days left in the current grading period. Made up work will not be accepted for past grading periods.
How do I set up my notebook?: For each lesson for science or chapter for math you will receive a table of contents. You must include titles and page numbers on each page in your notebook. Your notebook should be organized on a daily basis.
What needs to be included in my notebook?: Notes, daily warm-up activities, textbook questions, thinking maps, etc. EVERYTHING EXCEPT tests, quizzes, and monthly assignment calendars will go into your notebook
When are notebook checks?: Your notebook should be updated daily as new work is assigned and completed. Your notebook may be subject to random notebook checks.
What can I use to help study for quizzes and tests?: You can use your notes and materials in your science notebook, textbook questions and answers from the textbook, textbook practice assessments, review notes powerpoints, view videos posted on this website, etc.
What do I do with my graded quizzes and tests?: Keep your graded work at least until the end of the current grading period. There may be a test at the end of the unit, so it's helpful to keep your graded work to use as a study tool in the future.
